Visually indistinguishable from metatyuyamunite and other uranyl vanadates. Tyuyamunite easily dehydrates in dry atmosphere to metatyuyamunite Weakly to not fluorescent yellow-green in UV, although may be intergrown with bright fluorescent species (see mindat.org) Observation of pure tyuyamunite specimen is difficult.
