Short Waves (254 nm): Greenish

Main Activator(s) and spectrum:

Most Common Activator: Organic impurities

Other activators:            (UO2)2+ (Uranyl ion) as impurities , Pb2+ , Eu2+ , Ce3+ , Sm3+ , Dy3+ , O-2 , Nd3+ ,

Peaks in the spectrum (nm):

435, 465, 475, 495, 500nm

Very large band at 631nm

No spectrum for the moment

Comments on activators and spectra:

Strontianite has been studied by steady-state luminescence spectroscopy and trivalent REE, such as Dy, Sm, Nd and Ce, were found together with Mn2+ and uranyl (Gorobets and Rogojine 2001).

Luminescence characterized by broad bands associated with absoption of water-organic complexes (Tarashchan in Gaft).
Also possibly Pb2+ (Gaft);
O-2 (Gorobets);
