Comments:

Petoskey stone was designated the state rock of Michigan in 1965. It is a fossilised (calcite) coral from Devonian (350my ago) - Hexagonaria Percarinata. 

Named after an Ottawa Indian Chief, Chief Pet-O-Sega.
