It was added to the list of fluorecent minerals of Franklin in 2014 after a study of all the sample of the Franklin Museum with blue light by Charles Mazel and Earl R Verbeeck. (see bibliography) Gerstmannite is best excited under true blue (440-450nm) light and show an olive-green luminescence. in LW the response is so weak that it was not considered as fluorescent before this study.
