It was added to the list of fluorecent minerals of Franklin in 2014 after a study of all the sample of the Franklin Museum with blue light by Charles Mazel and Earl R Verbeeck. (see bibliography) Holdenite is best excited under true blue (440-450nm) light and show a dull olive-green luminescence. In LW there is no response and it was not considered as fluorescent before this study. Only a single specimen was tested and further study must be conducted. It could be that the yellow-green luminescence of willemite under the Holdenite excited by the powerfull blue led through this mineral is filtered by the pinkiish color of holdenite letting only a dim orange-yellow color to pass through.
